Water harvesting is the practice of capturing rainwater (rooftop) runoff and storing it in a tank or cistern for use around a home or business. This has wider application for agriculture as well, such as providing water for livestock and having a water source for cleaning.
NC State Extension has several resources with important information and guidance for setting up a rainwater harvesting system. These documents provide details for non-human consumption.
